Tbilisi - City of Warm Springs
After arriving in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, we will first head to your city hotel. Here, you will have the opportunity to rest a bit after the flight. Our adventure begins with a tour of the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. Through a pleasant walk, we will explore the authentic old town, Narikala Fortress, and the equestrian statue of the city's founder, Vakhtang Gorgasali, from where we will take a cable car to Mother Georgia. Finally, we will stroll through the park, crossing the Peace Bridge to the Puppet Theater. At dinner tonight, we will have the opportunity to enjoy traditional Georgian music. To the Greater Caucasus
Hike to Gergeti Church on Mount Kazbek at an altitude of 2,170 m. Challenging hike (Hiking time approx. 4 hours, approx. 12 km, elevation gain: +420 m, -420 m) We drive along the Georgian Military Road to Gudauri through a scenically very attractive area in the higher elevations of the Greater Caucasus. On the way, we visit the old capital and religious center of Georgia with the Jvari Church (6th century) and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), which is said to contain Christ's robe. We visit the Ananuri Fortress Church (17th century) with a magnificent view of the Jinvali Reservoir. We continue towards the spectacular Mount Kazbek. A beautiful hike takes us to the Gergeti Church, which is named after the locals from the village of Gergeti. The path leads up to the Zminda Sameba Church (Trinity Church) located at 2,170 m. From here, the Terek Valley and the settlement of Kazbek open up in full splendor. If the weather cooperates, we can also see Kazbek (5047 m). Today, we are invited to a Georgian family’s home! Unique mountain village and hike through impressive landscape.
Hike to the Georgian Alps Moderate hike (Hiking time approx. 4 hours, approx. 10 km, elevation gain: +250 m, -250 m) Drive (approx. 30 min) through the Sno Valley to the mountain village of Juta, which is cut off from the rest of the world for 6-7 months of the year and maintains its natural existence. Our hike begins here. In good weather, the imposing Mount Chaukhi (3842 m) is visible. The hike follows a river, and we will be amazed by the variety of endemic flora. At the beginning of the hike, we have a steep ascent. After that, a great view of the flower meadows opens up before us. Our goal is to hike through the green valley toward Mount Chaukhi, getting closer and closer. In the afternoon, during a visit to an artist, we will be introduced to Georgian felt work over tea. Along the Old Silk Road
Hiking time approx. 1 hour After breakfast, we head along the Georgian Military Road to Gori, Stalin's birthplace, beautifully located on the Kura, the largest river in the Caucasus. Visit a family winery, where the winemaker has been cultivating old native grape varieties and producing organic wines using traditional Georgian methods for many years. Wine tasting. Today's highlight is the cave city of Uplistsikhe, where you can still discover traces of settlements from the early 1st millennium BC. Temples, altars, streets, halls, and shops are found in this ancient cave city, which was traversed by a branch of the legendary Silk Road. The city structure with its multiple streets, a theater, and palaces is well-preserved and understandable. Shashlik by the Shore
Hiking time approx. 1 hour The cave city is fascinating with its terraces, sewage system, pharmacies, and tunnels. Today's goal is to visit the cave city of Vardzia, which will impress you. The city is entirely carved into the rocks. A rock wall rises about 500 meters above the Mtkvari River, where once over 2,000 cave dwellings were connected by stairs, galleries, and terraces. Notable is the artistically restored rock-hewn church with beautiful frescoes. For lunch, you will be served typical Georgian specialties such as shashlik skewers near the monastery complex on the shore of the picturesque river. Overnight in Borjomi. FM
Mosaic Church
Today we drive to the famous Prometheus Cave, which hides a colorful world in its ancient chambers. We will have an interesting guided tour in English followed by a boat ride through the caves. Initially, we drive downhill on the Georgian Military Road and then along the old Silk Road into the Kartli region. In the afternoon, we continue to Western Georgia, to the province of Imereti, and to the country's second-largest city – Kutaisi. Visit the impressive Gelati Monastery complex (12th century) with its associated academy (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Overnight in Kutaisi, Hotel King David 4*. FA
Off to Svaneti!
Today marks the beginning of the most exciting part of our journey – a trip to Svaneti, known for its unique high mountain landscape and vibrant traditions. After breakfast, visit the traditional food market in Kutaisi with its typical spices. Martvili Canyon and Boat Ride First, drive to Martvili and visit the Martvili Canyon. The 700-meter circular trail starts at the visitor center and follows the historic path of Dadiani. There are 2 bridges, 3 floating platforms, and a 30-step historic staircase built from limestone. A part of the canyon above the visitor center can be explored by inflatable boat. Short boat ride in the canyon (approx. 15 minutes). Continue to Mestia. Overnight in Mestia, Hotel Gistola. FA
To the Ushba Waterfalls
Hiking to the Waterfalls Moderate Hike (Hiking time approx. 3 hours, approx. 10 km, Elevation gain: +350 m, -350 m) Short drive to the neighboring village of Shikhra. Start a hike that is initially easy but later becomes quite challenging as we reach the picturesque waterfalls cascading down a rock edge. The trail follows the Dolra River and passes through enchanting dark fir forests, later transitioning to alpine meadows and krummholz (dwarf forests) on narrow paths up to a mountain saddle right at the glacier's edge. Those who want to avoid the steep final climb can take a longer rest at a beautiful viewpoint in the mountain meadows, while the summit conquerors continue from this point. In the afternoon, visit the Historical-Ethnographic Museum in the center of Mestia. Overnight in Mestia. FPA
The Village of Ushguli (2200 m) – UNESCO World Heritage Site
Drive to Ushguli, the highest permanently inhabited village in Europe. Here, high mountains, defensive towers, and Svanetian traditions come together to create a complete work of art. Take a walk through the village. We will visit the Lamaria Church (12th century), with the eternally snowy Shkhara (5068 m) rising in the background. The hiking trail ascends along the slopes of Mount Shkhara to green oases and rock formations. Lunch with a local family, where we will enjoy the Svanetian specialty Kubdari! In the afternoon, embark on a two-hour hike to the ruins of Queen Tamar's summer residence. From here, enjoy the magnificent view of Shkhara! Overnight in Mestia. FMA

Walking time approx. 1 hour Drive to the Black Sea coast. Enjoy a beautiful visit to Batumi, the modern city on the Black Sea. Today, we explore the popular gem of Georgia with a pleasant walk, including a visit to the Georgian Alphabet Tower and Europe Square. Visit the famous Botanical Garden with its endemic plants and trees. We will receive explanations about the various plant species found here since 1912. Afterwards, visit a local farmer's market.
