Tbilisi – on foot in the heart of the old town

At Tbilisi Airport, the capital of Georgia, you will be greeted by the local tour guide. First, you will head to your city hotel, where you can check in and rest a bit. Tour of the Georgian capital. All the interesting architectural monuments are close to each other in the old town, so we can explore most of the sights through a pleasant walk. First, we visit the Narikala Fortress and the equestrian statue of the city founder, Vakhtang Gorgasali. We will take the cable car to Mother Georgia. From here, we have a fantastic view of the entire city of Tbilisi. The tour continues with an impressive walk through the park, crossing the Peace Bridge to the Puppet Theater. Drive along the Georgian Military Road to Gudauri through a scenic area in the higher elevations of the Greater Caucasus. On the way, visit the Ananuri Fortress Church (17th century) with a magnificent view of the Jinvali Reservoir. Continue to Kazbek. Enjoy a scenic jeep ride up to the Gergeti Church. The route takes us through the village of Gergeti to the Zminda Sameba Church (Trinity Church), also known as the Gergeti Church, located at 2170 meters above sea level. From here, you’ll look into the Terek Valley and the settlement of Kazbek. If the weather permits, you might catch a glimpse of one of the highest peaks in the Caucasus, Mount Kazbek (5047 m). Temples, altars, streets, halls, and shops are found in this ancient cave city, which is connected by a branch of the legendary Silk Road. The city's structure, including several streets, a theater, and palaces, is well-preserved. Continue to the spa town of Borjomi, which is nestled in forests. Today, we take a pleasant excursion to the cave city of Vardzia, which is carved entirely into the rock.
