First, we visit the Narikala Fortress and the equestrian statue of the city founder, Vakhtang Gorgasali. We will take the cable car to Mother Georgia. Today, we visit the city of Gori, the birthplace of Stalin. We will then proceed to the cave city of Uplistsikhe, the highlight of the day. Here, you can still discover traces of settlement from the early 1st millennium BC. Temples, altars, streets, halls, and shops are found in this ancient cave city, which is connected by a branch of the legendary Silk Road. The city's structure, including several streets, a theater, and palaces, is well-preserved. Continue to the spa town of Borjomi, which is nestled in forests. Today, we take a pleasant excursion to the cave city of Vardzia, which is carved entirely into the rock. A cliff rises about 500 meters above the Mtkwari River, where once over 2,000 cave dwellings with stairs, galleries, terraces, sewage systems, pharmacies, tunnels, and ancient frescoes were connected. The intricately restored stone-carved church with beautiful frescoes is particularly impressive. The Georgian cave city is truly fascinating.
